CMS CloudOps Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for providing the support needed for hosting-provider platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS). To be successful in this position, you must be an innovative problem-solver and visionary.


  • Responsible for managing the architecture and operational support of virtual environments; develop active operational processes and procedures
  • Provide support and manage Container services like ECS, EKS
  • Develop, deploy, and manage OS hardening; improve operational efficiency
  • Work with application owners/groups to ensure proper security standards are being followed for client projects and solutions
  • Create and manage internal staff documents as well as security procedures to provide uniform, compliant environments for production implementation
  • Review operations and business requirements for projects pertaining to infrastructure with project teams, management, and client services groups for deployment and ongoing operations support
  • Provide onboarding support, making yourself aware of the project scope and responsibilities assigned
  • Responsible for deploying scalable, highly available infrastructure with best practices to govern and maintain container software.
  • Implement the latest virtualization technology, tools, and capabilities
  • Work with the Go-to Market team on pursuits, request for proposal (RFP) responses, and solution developments
  • Provide technical support for clients
  • Continually monitor SNOW queues for assigned incidents, assigning according to standards required for Security Operations Center (SOC) II compliance and project tasks with continuous updates on open tickets
  • Support the pricing, proposal, and Statement of Work process for pod-related projects
  • Develop your training plan to have skills and certification across at least two platforms, and expertise in at least one operation system (Windows or Linux)
  • Develop scripting capabilities to support automation of routine tasks using the automation tools supported by the AWS Platform
  • Report all issues and/or gaps in process or tools
  • Escalate any incident resolution issues in a timely manner to the project technical lead, the service delivery manager, and operations, if inability to resolve
  • Provide required documents within SOC II compliance standards
  • Develop proactive and reactive monitoring solutions.
  • Develop/create reusable metrics, dashboards, and key integrations using Datadog.
  • Monitor infrastructure component like CPU, memory, disk space, and I/O. OS services etc.
  • Support infra and application monitoring for all cloud application architectures.
  • Monitor the responsiveness and availability of critical websites and web applications from the end-user perspective
  • Provide deep visibility into on-prem, cloud and hybrid applications performance
  • Implement application monitoring, synthetic and real user monitoring solutions following best practices across the enterprise
  • Collaborate with Business and Technology to design and implement performance benchmarks for infra and application, and report results periodically
  • Develop processes to monitor and alert for critical business transactions, infra and applications to catch an issue before the impact
  • Participates in the discussion infrastructure outage incidents, applications performance and provide solutions
  • Collaborate with all relevant IT resources to develop preventive measures and automated remediation of production issues
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance client service, efficiency, and reliability
  • Document information such as configuration, installation and user guides following process standards
  • Experience with application performance management technologies: server and application (real and synthetic) monitoring components


  • Bachelor-level degree in engineering, IT, data communications, telecommunications, computer science, or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a large, diverse server environment
  • Experience with scripting, automation, and orchestration technologies
  • Demonstrated experience with architecting and deploying large cloud and virtualized environment, including compute, memory, storage, network resources, and associated services
  • Expert in virtualization
  • Knowledge of the full life cycle management of environments from deployment to decommission
  • System administration of Windows operating systems
  • Experience in deploying and managing Container solutions like ECS, EKS.
  • Experience in deploying and managing on Red Hat OpenShift
  • Experience in handling services like EC2, CloudWatch, Lambda etc.
  • Provided experience in virtual server technology to resolve technical issues and hands- on client project support
  • Knowledgeable in LAN, WAN, firewall, load-balancer, VPN, and data security
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and issue-management skills
  • Demonstrated experience leading large projects, interpreting project requirements, and working directly with clients to develop customized solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication ability; must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge of infra and application monitoring best practices
  • Experience with multiple hardware and operating systems such Linux/Windows
  • Infrastructure monitoring tools: client, server, network, logs
  • Synthetic monitoring tools including browser-based testing and load generators
  • Understanding or relational and non-relational databases
  • Experience in configuration management and orchestration tools
  • Experience in configuration, release, and change management
  • Self-driven individual with good project and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse set of clients in an international organization
  • Cloud administration/monitoring Certifications would be added advantage
  • Knowledge on Cloud computing and Virtualization.
  • Trained in ITIL v3 and ITSM
  • Knowledge of HTML, UX/UI, CSS in basic level
  • Understanding of core development principles of scripting languages like Perl, python etc.
  • Understanding of messaging frameworks such as SOAP, REST, and web services

Skills desired

  • Certifications in system administration, system architecture, virtualization, or cloud technologies
  • Need to have experience on Amazon services like Cloud Trail, , S3, EFS, Elasticsearch, AWS KMS, AWS Transfer Family, AWS Config, AWS WAF, ECS, EKS, Kafka, ECR, Secrets Manager, SQS, SNS, SES, Step Functions, Developer Tools (Code Build, Code Commit, Code Pipeline), X-Ray.
  • Knowledge in other technologies, such as OpenStack or Xen.
  • Deployment and operational expertise in RHEL, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu, and Cent OS
  • Knowledge of other virtualization and cloud computing technologies in the industry
